It was a real privilege to attend RES+Expo 2026 this week. The event, held at the Expo International Exhibition Center in Astana provided an unparalleled platform for dialogue on sustainable development in Central Asia. It was organised by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the support of the International Green Technology and Investment Center (IGTIC).
The panel on The Future of Sustainable Development reaffirmed the crucial role played by the synergy of government, technology and financial markets. Panellists included Sayasat Nurbek, Tomas Lamanauskas, Baglana Mussina, Dulatbek Ikbayev, and Manas Gizhduaniyev.
We had the pleasure of meeting several universities actively engaged with regional environmental problems, developing amazing projects and, crucially, localised solutions. Universities we met included, Atyrau University, Auezov University, Atyrau Oil and Gas University, East Kazakhstan Technical University, the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNARU), Yessenov University, and Zhetysu University.
